Mobile Safari and Zambezi Queen Collection Houseboat Stay (12/13 nights)
Boarding a houseboat within the Zambezi Queen Collection will be the highlight of your trip in Africa, whether you stay on the Zambezi Queen or one of the Chobe Princesses. But even then, the call to experience raw Africa is simply too strong for some. If you’re an adventurer at heart, we’ve formulated the perfect combination of a houseboat stay and a serviced Botswana mobile safari where you move from camp to camp via an overland vehicle.
Two notable stops on this tour are the Okavango Delta and the Moremi Game Reserve, where you’ll spend two and three nights respectively. The Okavango Delta is situated in the middle of the Kalahari basin, the largest stretch of continuous sand in the world. This is a place where land and delta meet, and where a mosaic of pans, grasslands, forests and lagoons provide a rich and diverse habitat in which scores of animals and birds flourish. This wetland is one of the natural wonders of the world and one of the most unspoilt wildernesses on the planet. You’ll spend two nights of your Botswana mobile safari camping in the Xakanaxa area.
Moremi Game Reserve is situated in the eastern corner of the Okavango Delta and is one of the most beautiful and varied reserves on the African continent, with huge concentrations of wildlife and incredible scenery. You’ll spend three nights in the Khwai Community Area bordering the Moremi Game Reserve.
In sharp contrast to the lush Chobe riverfront, the desolate landscape of the Savute is famous for the dry marsh, sand ridge and volcanic hills unique to the area. Your guide will alternate between these areas during morning and late afternoon drives. The Savute Hills are home to a healthy population of leopard, as well as a set of perfectly preserved San paintings that are also easily accessible. You’ll stay in the area for three nights, which almost seems too short to take in this beauty.
The Chobe riverfront is famous for its abundance of elephants, and contains the highest concentration of them found anywhere in the world. Chobe is also known for its huge herds of buffalo, rich birdlife and exquisite sunsets. You’ll spend your last two nights of your mobile safari camping in the Chobe area before returning to Kasane on the last day. From here, you’ll board one of our Zambezi Queen Collection houseboats for a journey of absolute pampering!
